| If I was honest, I'm terribly lonely for friends. My co-workers are all wonderful people, but I am tongue-tied far too often. I am so thankful for my husband, who makes up for my lack of conversational skills. Nonetheless, I cannot help but be constantly aware of what I lack; that is, authenticity.

| It's only Monday and I already found the quote of the week. "The private sector got us into this mess," House Financial Service Committee Chairman Barney Frank said, "The government has to get us out of it. We do want to do it carefully." | | |
| I wonder what would happen if a political candidate tried to run an honest-to-goodness just-the-facts-ma'am campaign. I don't think he'd be destroyed by the other side. I think he'd be undone by his own campaign people who couldn't fall in line. | | |
| Avoiding punditry. Trying to care about the election. Catching up on what happened in the years when I was under 12. Being very busy with I don't know what, and feeling slower than everyone else. I'm learning... I think? Favorite feedback comment this week: "Palin is a poor choice for Vice President. McCain picked her for political reasons only." - profound reader Favorite quote mocking Our Savior Politics (i.e. why Palin rawks): "She fights corruption by day, cooks dinner at night, and shoots moose on the weekend." - Slate Staff quote of the week: "Hurricanes are doing to Cuba what American missles couldn't." - name withheld for job security Hilarious home life event: "Don't worry, I won't feel a thing." - Eddie to a young squaller | | |
| Sometimes I think I hate being a grown up. Other times I think I love it. Thankfully, today is one of those "love-it" moments. Although I do wonder when I'm supposed to sleep. "I'm a big believer in pursuing the best you can. That's how I got you." - him | | |
